Epididymitis Diagnosis

Diagnosis

Based on history, clinical examination, the presence or absence of accompanying disease, laboratory and imaging investigations. It’s essential that a complete urine culture and control with U/S is performed. If coexisting urethral discharge coexists, it’s essential a Chlamydia and N. gonorrhea culture. In young children and in the elderly, thorough urinary control is required for possible concomitant diseases or conditions that predispose to epididymitis.

Differential Diagnosis

• testicular torsion • testicular trauma • testicular cancer • abscess

Complications

• abscess • seminiferous tubules’ obstruction • sterility • destruction of testicular parenchyma.
